yoga

Mary Ellen Shannon, RYT has been a resident of Barnstead for 18 years and a yoga practitioner for even longer.  She is excited for the opportunity to share the benefits of yoga with our community!

We offer two classes:

Simply Yoga (start time 4:15pm) – A 45 minute class designed for adults who are beginners and are seeking a gentle,  low impact form of movement and stretching.  Class will move at a slower pace with plenty of clear instruction.  Postures are chosen to assist with well being, balance and relaxation.

All Levels Class (start time 5:30pm) – This class is designed for adults who have some basic yoga knowledge.  Taking a mindful approach, modifications will be used and instructed to enhance the postures to make them personal for your body and ability.  Class will include centering, warm ups, sun salutations, a variety of standing, sitting and balancing postures, breath awareness and relaxation.

Please wear comfortable clothing.  Bring a yoga mat (some will be available to purchase for $12).  If you have blocks and straps, please bring those also.

Classes are by donation.  All are welcome and encouraged to attend, regardless of ability to donate.

If you have further questions, please contact M.E. at 269-5030.

Teen Advisory Group
Aug 24 @ 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

Teen Advisory Board

The OFML Teen Advisory Group is a group of teens ages 12-18 who assist the library with a number of things such as:

  • Program Development – Work with our YA Program Designer, Lindsey, to create new teen programs, events and groups.

  • Teen Tech Advisor – Become a Teen Tech Advisor (14-18) and help design and write our Teen Newsletter, maintain our teen book review blog, help teach a tech class or assist patrons with technology questions.

  • YA Collection Development – Advise Danielle on book recommendations for our YA collection, write reviews for our teen book review blog, help design displays for the YA area.

You can also help out by shelving and covering books, setting up for programs or assisting with preparations for some of our children’s programs.

Participation looks great on college applications, and everything qualifies for community service hours!
